Edustria High School (EHS) recently conducted its first ever Robotics Technoshop with attendees from various public and private schools from the nearby towns. The Technological Institute of the Philippines (T.I.P.) - Computer Engineering Department facilitated this exciting learning event with the theme, “Starting Them Young in Industry 4.0”. The T.I.P. team was headed by faculty members Engr. Rufo Marasigan, Engr. Yunessa Claire Mortos, Engr. Lois Fernando Illustre and Mr. Dennis Nava. T.I.P. computer engineering students Julian Caleb Segundo and Jean Loraine Rombaoa were the main speakers. Delegations from public and private schools in Lipa, Malvar, Balete, Tanauan and even Cavite participated in the event. The attendees learned first-hand the fundamentals and importance of robots in our world today. From manufacturing to healthcare, robots function in dangerous jobs in lieu of humans because they are capable of working even in hazardous environments. They can lift heavy loads, work with toxic substances, and do repetitive tasks. This has helped companies to prevent many accidents, thus saving time and money.

Attendees also learned the basics of coding and programming through the software and hardware provided by EHS and T.I.P. Mr. Segundo and Ms. Rombaoa further highlighted the important skills needed in pursuing a career in robotics as well as the challenges they may encounter. The event was a great success as many students and parents look forward to the next Robotics Technoshop. Edustria hopes to provide meaningful workshops such as this to increase awareness and innovation towards robotics and other industries relevant to the needs of the youth today.

Many thanks also to the other T.I.P. Computer Engineering students who helped facilitate the event namely: Hans Stephen Lumasang, Jond Martin Florentino, Shawn Paolo Chua, Christine Joy Manuel, Manuel Cleeve Coyoca, Jezreel John Michael Baga, Khloe Agnes Reyes, and Guillen Minerva Root.
